Exploring the Bay Area: Top Picks for Your Next Conference Visit
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share some of my favorite things to do in the Bay Area. Even if you’re heading to the region for a future conference or event, these recommendations will help you make the most of your visit.
Here are a few spots that I’ve really enjoyed:
Computer History Museum in Mountain View (computerhistory.org) – If you’re extending your stay or have a free day, this museum is a must-see. It offers a deep dive into both vintage and modern technological artifacts. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., it’s a fantastic stop for tech enthusiasts and curious minds.
Hiking at Rancho San Antonio Preserve (openspace.org) – The Bay Area’s weather is nearly always perfect for a hike, and Rancho San Antonio is a nearby gem. The Wild Cat Loop trail, a 3-mile loop, provides stunning views of the Bay Area from its peak—a refreshing way to appreciate the region’s natural beauty.
Exploring Stanford University (visit.stanford.edu) – Stanford’s campus is iconic and full of beautiful green spaces. You can visit the observation tower, explore the free art museum, and enjoy relaxing at one of the many charming cafes on campus.
I originally wrote this article for the Apache Beam Summit 2024. Now that the summit is in the rearview mirror, I’m sharing it here for everyone’s benefit. For more details about the Apache Beam Summit and to stay updated on future events, visit the summit website.
